Norah Head Lighthouse

Norah Head Lighthouse is located halfway between the townships of The Entrance and Budgewoi on the stretch of the NSW coastline.

Built in 1903, Norah Head Lighthouse was the last manned lighthouse built in the State and the last major colonial lightstation constructed in NSW before ownership and control of Australian coastal lights was passed to the Commonwealth.

Father & Daughter: Hide and go seek

Last Monday, it was our Australia Anzac Day public holiday, although it is supposed to be Autumn at this time of the year, it turned out to be a beautiful warm and sunny day, as it seemed that Summer is refusing to go away this year.

My  brother had his friend’s family coming over to his house, and we had a really delicious BBQ lunch together. I had a really great and relaxing day, with great food, nice wine, good friends and family, just chatting the afternoon away, while the children were running around the back yard and playing.

These are a few frames that I have captured while my brother’s friend is playing Hide and Go Seek with his daughter. Look at the beautiful and spontaneous laughter from his little girl, after she was spotted by her father, it is simply adorable. :-)

A priceless moment, if you ask me …

My Valentine

My  valentine.

Ha-ha. Don’t let the title fool you. There is no pretty or sexy lady.

Actually, this is the place where I grew up.

After being away for more than 18 years,  I drove back to Valentine with my parents last Friday, and it really brought back a lot of sweet childhood memories, and I almost forgotten how beautiful this place is.

As the lake is only 5 minutes walk from our home, when we were young, we used to just walk down to the lake for swimming, fishing, and cannoning during Summer.

In case you do not know where is Valentine, it is a suburb of the City Of Lake Macquarie, and it is around 150km north from Sydney CBD.

My Buddy’s mother

It was my buddy’s mother birthday, and she has asked me to help her to take a few photo of her mother, so that, she can make a few print for her as her birthday present. Well, at the end of the morning, I have managed to take more than a few, and in fact, more than 300+ photo, as she is such a natural in front of the camera.

Have a great week ahead :-)

I have really enjoyed the session. The following is just a few of my favorite:

Swashbucklers Fencing

This is another interesting and fun event that I shot last November.

Since I was a kid, I have always been fascinated watching two swordsman or swordswoman dressed in their pure white attire and helmet battling again each other on the television. And every time, when one of the swordsmen scored a hit (point), I always wonder who is the winner, because the winning hit always happened with such lightening speed.

So, when my kid’s music teacher, a white swordsman himself, invited us to his club competition, we were so excited, and I am so glad that I went.

The following are a few out of the many photo that I have taken.

The photo was taken with my trusted Canon 1D MK3 with ISO3200. I need the high ISO to freeze the white knight in action inside the hall where the light is low.

04 Fencing is for everyone, young or old, men or women. This little girl is battling against a boy that is bigger than her, although she did not win the match; she really put up a good challenge. Good on you. We are all very proud of you.

07 The lady match

09 This is the lady match, and this is my favorite photo, as I was able to capture this winning strike, check out how the sword was bended. Cool …

Joycemint Annual Concert 2009

I guess I really have not been blogged for a while, as you can see that I have been “super-doper” busy preparing myself in moving back to Sydney.

So, in order to catch up on my blogging, I would like to share with you some of the photo that I have been shooting the end of last year.

Firstly, the Joycemint Annual Concert, this concert is held at the end of the every year, and it is my favorite event to cover.
Why? You may ask. This is my favorite event because, I love shooting children, I love capturing their simple, true and natural expression. And, I love music. Hence, with the combination of these two elements, it just made Joycemint Annual Concert, one of the  favorite event to cover.

This is my 4th year in shooting this event, and this year, the concert is held in The Actor Theater, Lot 10, Kuala Lumpur. It is joyful to see all the kids grew up thru these years with their music skill reach a greater height. (And of course, they all also grew taller.)
So, well done, kids! Your parent must be very proud of you and your fantastic achievement, and thank you for your hard work to make the Joycemint Annual Concert another successful year.

And last but not least, Thank You, Joyce, for trusting me to cover this great event. It has been a privilege. And I hope that I get a chance to shoot this event again.

Gold Coast Holiday

These are some of my favorite photo that I have taken last Christmas. I like this photo a lot because every time I look at them, it reminds me of what a great holiday and time that I had with my three dearest children, and my brother’s family. All of us spent four fun-filled days in Gold Coast before driving back to Sydney.
It may not be the greatest images technically, but every times, when I look at these images, it makes me smile, so it just re-assure me that photography is about capturing the moment, and it is not about what branded camera you have or who has the highest pixels.
We were staying in the Panorama Tower, where it is only 5 minutes walk from the center of the town, and 7 minutes walk to the beach. And when we sat back and relaxed at the balcony, this is the awesome view we got of the Nerang River and Gold Coast cityscape during sunset.

The first stop was The Sea World. Although it was rainy most of the day, it did not dampen our holiday spirits, and the kids were really having fun by jumping from one ride to the other.

#03 The Merry-Go-Around

#04 More rides …

#05 Apart from of the rides and games, we also get to see many amazing animals. And Polar Bear is my favourite.

#06 We won this hat in one of the games that we played. Cool….

#07 The pirate show was canceled in the morning due to the rain, but luckily, the rain stopped toward the evening, and we managed to watch this.

The next day, the weather started to clear up, and we went to the Paradise  Country to experience the Aussie farm lifestyle, and the day turned out to be a lovely sunny day.

#09 Saying thank you after the horse show

On the last day, we went to The Movie World

#11 Hollywood Stunt Driving Show

#13 The Dark  Knight

#14 Scooby-Doo & the gang

How I wish I can do this every year :-)
